Light Microscopy
Light microscopes are the most common microscopes used in biology. You have probably used one of these during a biology laboratory course. Light microscopes are able to magnify a sample up to 1000 times of their original size through a combination of glass lenses. A major limitation of conventional light microscopy is the fact that the resolution – the ability of seeing two adjacent structures apart – is limited to about 200 nm.
