What can Actin do?
Actin is in every cell in our body and is involved in a broad range of biological processes. Its role is largely influenced by the type of cell. For example, in skeletal and cardiac muscle cells, actin filaments provide the structural component necessary for muscles to produce a contraction. In dividing cells, actin facilitates the final step of pinching apart the resulting two cells.
